Days of Awe: Yom Kippor
Wednesday, October 9, 2019 • 10 Tishrei 5780
9:00 AM - 1:30 PMBHA, 331 Verplanck Ave., BeaconThe leaves will soon begin to turn and we will wake from the sleep of summer to fall’s energy and potential and the Jewish start to the year. This is the season of intention and connection, the season to renew our spirits, reconnect to community and rediscover the holy.
These are the Days of Awe.
Yom Kippor services will be held in the sanctuary at BHA. Children's programming will be held in the downstairs community room, register your child here. Parking at BHA is limited and we ask that those who are able, please reserve the BHA parking lot for those who are unable. Street parking is available and a map of municipal lots can be viewed here.
At Beacon Hebrew Alliance, everyone is welcome for this period of introspection and prayer. However, we ask that everyone please register so we know how many people to expect.
We know that sometimes, people are looking to connect to the formal, classical, majesty of the holidays and other times, people are looking for a more informal and creative approach to spiritual work.
Our services on Rosh Hashonah and Yom Kippor are generally in a more formal register, while our services for Tashlich and the Soul Strolls offer more creative experiences.
The first day of Rosh Hashonah falls on September 30; our full calendar, including children’s programs, is available here. Please register your children for any services they will be attending with you.
While there is no specific fee for participating in the Days of Awe at BHA, we invite you to contribute to BHA so we can continue to be the home for vibrant Jewish life in the Hudson Valley. If you'd like to offer a tribute to a loved one in our Days of Awe booklet that will be distributed through out the holidays, either in honor or in memory of, please consider purchasing a tribute when you register for the High Holiday services.
In order to fulfill the words of the prophet Isaiah, who insists that we share our bread with the hungry, we ask that everyone joining us for the Days of Awe bring a bag of non-perishable food for the Beacon Community Action Partnership to feed people in need.
Finally, if you have any questions, check out our FAQ page, or contact us at 845.831.2012 x3 or admin@beaconhebrewalliance.org.
We look forward to welcoming the new year with you!
