Sail With Us!

We would like to invite you to set sail with us as we continually invent a new venture–a chavurah called Ruach! Ruach means spirit or wind and it is the energy that fills our sails as we navigate this precious life together.

What is Ruach? As Judaism is deeply rooted in the natural cycles of the year, Ruach offers a monthly gathering to ground us in the Jewish calendar, to celebrate life events of the members, to learn together, debate, and ask questions. Some ideas we have delved into over the past year, or hope to in the future, include: a monthly blessing of the new moon; commemorating Elul; gathering in the sukkah; leading a Shabbaton when the schedule permits; discussing books such as The Jewish Book of Days by Rabbi Jill Hammer; and following the wheel of the year through the seasons of the natural world around us.

Why did we create Ruach? Chavurah comes from the Hebrew root for friendship and society; for connection with others. By joining us in Ruach, you will be joining us in a community of compassion and support. Perhaps you would like to further explore your Judaism or are Jewish-curious? Ruach was created by queer, straight, interfaith, Jewish, neurodiverse, artist families as a space for ALL. By embracing the full cycle of life, Ruach brings new meaning to Jewish life and practice. Ruach, like Judaism, reveres the question and invites us to ask.

We are all in this boat together. Meet us at the dock!
