Why join bHA?

We join to feel seen and appreciated for who we are and for what each of us has to offer.  We join for connection and study, often finding that there is much to learn from our members who are part of the generations that came before and after us.  We join to learn from our long-time members who have an abundance of Jewish wisdom to share. We join for the energy and unique perspectives of our younger members who bring inspiration and hope to our community.  We join to have a place to hold lifecycle events for our friends and families.  We join because we want to be a part of something bigger than ourselves.  We join because we care about the future of Judaism.

We are excited that you are thinking of joining Beacon Hebrew Alliance and we look forward to your active participation in our vibrant Jewish community! Our inclusive membership welcomes all Jews and their families. Below you will find all the information you need about BHA Membership.  If you have any questions please use the form below to reach out and ask us.  If you are ready, please fill out the Become a BHA Member Form.

CHOOSING YOUR MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENT

You will be asked a series of questions about yourself and your family, your answers to the questions will determine your level of membership, however,  you choose the financial commitment your family can afford.

We understand that some families are not able to make the full financial commitment to BHA and so in the form:

  • We offer easy to select adjustment options of up to 20% or
  • You can fill in whatever amount you can give in membership dues

We ask that you keep two things in mind before you fill out the form: first, BHA will not turn anyone away for financial reasons; second, we rely on membership dues to pay the bills and keep things running.

Once you submit the form to become a BHA Member, you will be contacted by our Membership Chair, Jenny Kaplan or our Executive Director, Jane Young.

MEMBERSHIP PRORATING

Our membership dues billing cycle begins July 1 and ends June 30 of the following year. Members are asked to renew their membership in July.

Membership dues for new members are prorated  quarterly and are determined by when in our fiscal year you join.

If you are an individual and join BHA between July 1-September 30, your membership would be the full amount of $972.00.  If you join BHA between October 1-December 31 your membership would be prorated to $729.00; if you join between January 1- March 31 your membership would be $486.00; if you join between April 1-June 30 your dues would be $243.00.

MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT

  • You will have the option to set up a single payment or recurring payments. Online payments can be made using a credit card or an ACH debit.
  • If you pay by credit card, please consider adding 2.7% to your payment to help BHA cover processing fees.  This additional payment is optional.
  • Final payments must be made by June 30, 2024.
  • All membership contributions are tax deductible in the calendar year they are paid.

SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP

Whether you have a lot or a little, we want everyone to be able to join the BHA community.  By giving extra, you help make that possible.

This year we are introducing the option to contribute at the SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP level.  We work hard to keep our membership dues low and affordable for everyone.  Those who are able to give substantially more, can choose to pay the Sustaining Membership of $4000.

Contributing to Sustaining Membership will enable BHA to continue to be inclusive of all members of our community and allows us to welcome a diversity of members, including differences in personal financial resources.

OUR BUILDING FUND

Our historic building requires lots of care and maintenance. To help maintain the upkeep of our home, we rely on our building fund.

We ask new members to contribute a one-time building fund suggested donation of $300 or the amount of your choice.

We look forward to learning, celebrating and growing with you!
