This event is co-hosted by the BHA along with Rachel Shuman and David Sampliner who saw the film earlier this year and were so moved by it that they wanted to bring it to our Beacon community. 

SABBATH QUEEN was over two decades in the making and follows the extraordinary, genre-defying journey of Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie, heir to 38 generations of Orthodox rabbis, who transforms from dynastic rabbi-in-waiting to drag-queen rebel, queer bio-Dad, and visionary founder of Lab/Shul—an everybody-friendly, God-optional, artist-driven, pop-up experimental congregation. Through Rabbi Amichai’s deeply personal story, the film explores themes of identity, faith, queerness, love, peace, and radical reinvention in a rapidly changing world.
