At the end of October a new event will be added to our study program. Four one hour weekly sessions on Chasidic stories will be presented led by BHA Member, Paul Davidovits. Each week we will discuss a different Chasidic Rebbe. In this first sequence, we will focus on the following four:

  • The Baal Shem Tov (Besht) the founder of East European Chasidism (1700-1760), (pictured above, an ilustration of the hasidim for Chabad; licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license)
  • Rebbe Nachman of Bratslav the grandson of the Besht (1772-1810),
  • The Kaleve Rebbe who brought Chasidism to Hungary and dramatically changed the course of Judaism in Hungary and the surrounding areas (1751 to1821),
  • The Piaseczna Rebbe who at the end of his life was the Rebbe of the Warsaw Ghetto (1889-1943).

Typically we will begin with a brief discussion of the Rebbe’s life and some of his key teachings.  Paul will then tell a story (or stories) about the Rebbe. We will discuss how the Rebbe’s life is reflected in the story, and the teachings that the story conveys to us. Participants, might want to bring to the sessions stories and teachings as well.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
