I hope everyone had a chance to count their blessings over Thanksgiving weekend! One of our blessings at Masa is that Debbie Broshi has joined us, to teach the 3rd/4th Grade class on Sundays, and to lead project-based sessions on Fridays. Debbie taught in Masa for a number of years, and we are really fortunate to have her back with us!

Both December and the Jewish month of Kislev began last weekend, which means Hanukkah is coming up quickly!

Our Friday students are preparing a short play, and all of the students will be learning some Hanukkah songs to sing with the community. This playlist includes several of the songs, so that you can practice at home!

The BHA Community Hanukkah party will be on Friday December 20, from 5:00-7:30.  People of all ages are welcome to join us for a delightful pre-Hanukkah gathering!

Here is a schedule:

4:00 PM: Friday Masa students arrive and finish preparing for the party.

5:00 PM: Activities for children in the Social Hall. Activities will include making candles, playing dreidel, a Hanukkah-themed photo booth, and filling birthday bags for the food pantry!

Please bring cake mix, candles, frosting, and small toys to Masa on December 8 and 15 so we’ll have plenty to fill the bags of children who might not get a birthday cake!

5:50 PM: Hanukkah Play and Hanukkah songs in the Upstairs Sanctuary. Come on upstairs to see the story our older students are preparing to share with the community!

6:20 PM: Gather in the Social Hall to say the Shabbat blessings and share delicious food (bring your favorite Hanukkah-themed foods!). Masa families will provide latkes, apple sauce, sour cream, and hard boiled eggs.

7:15 PM: Clean up from potluck and sing some more Hanukkah songs!

7:30 PM: Friday Night Services

Please contact Leilah Ezra for information about how you can help to make this party a wonderful beginning for Hanukkah!

Coming up:

Friday: Masa from 4:00-6:00. Mini Minyan at 5:30, blessings and potluck at 6:00, Friday night services at 7:00.

Sunday: Masa from 9:30-12:30.

Important note about weather: As this past weekend forcefully reminded us, weather can potentially cause delays or cancellations for Masa. Make sure you've signed up for Remind so that you'll get messages about any weather-related changes!
