“Educate youth according to [their] way, and [they] will not depart from it when [they] grow old.” Proverbs 22:6

Welcome to this strange new year! By now, the children of members should have received an activity box for September/October. I am looking forward to seeing what the children have done!

As much as we all want to be back together in person, one benefit of Masa being in distance mode is that we will be much better able to shape a program for each individual child. We are focusing on one-on-one learning with adults, independent projects, and a wide range of elective choices. Families who enroll in Masa for the year will be matched with a teacher learning coach to help navigate the offerings, and to help children with independent learning. I will be calling enrolled families soon to make individual learning plans, and match you with learning coaches.

We have also heard from a number of parents requesting an “à la carte” option for Masa learning. I am working with Rabbi Brent and the Board to determine the best way to meet this need. I will let you know as soon as we can what options we can offer.

We will gather online next Monday to observe Yom Kippur. Children ages 0-5 will meet at 9:30, children ages 5-10 will meet at 11:00, and children ages 10 and above will meet at 12:30. Children who are 5 or 10 can attend either (or both) sessions for their age group.

Masa learning will begin the week of October 4. Registration is still open. Please reach out to me if you have any questions about learning with Masa this year. We are excited about the ways we can teach each child “according to their way” this year, and we will do our best to shape our programming to fit with each family’s needs!
