We are moving into summer mode in Masa. In normal times, this would mean we aren’t having much programming. But this year, we will have some low-key programming for kids of different ages. Jonathan will be leading a Sunday morning service and discussion for older kids--parents are also welcome to join in! Wendy will be reading The Inquisitor’s Apprentice (a novel set in early 20th century New York, kind of a cross between All-of-a-Kind Family and Harry Potter). You can also schedule a one-on-one story time for younger kids with the Masa teachers! Keep an eye on Remind and email or be in touch with Julia for details.

We will be continuing Mini Minyan on Friday afternoons. For the summer, we’ll gather at 4:30, and the service will be followed by Rabbi Brent’s teaching for adults at 5:00, and Shabbat services at 6:00. This is a great time to “see” our community. If your child is in 3rd grade or above, and they would like to help lead the service, I am happy to meet with them. Summer is a great time to experiment, and they can try out any ideas they’ve got for the service!

I want to thank all of our teachers and students at Masa for helping to keep on learning this spring. I know this wasn’t what any of us planned, and it’s been a challenge to find ways to connect with each other. Our teachers have managed to find ways to teach online, and our students have rewarded our efforts by coming and engaging in the learning in so many different ways. I think one of our students summed it up best, when asked what was positive about the experience of distance learning: “No matter what happened, we kept on learning!”

I hope we will all keep on learning, no matter what comes next. Wishing you all well!
