Sometimes you just have to sit and take a few breaths and remind yourself that things don’t always work out the way we want them to. Last Sunday was one of those days, when a worldwide Zoom outage and problems with Google Meet meant we couldn’t gather for Masa! Teachers spent the time calling families, and doing their best to connect with students, and then we moved on. This week, we will try again! As the students know, we wake up each day with a clean slate, and we can try things another time.
Cantor Ellen will be joining us this week to lead k’hillah. She will be encouraging the children to begin a kir todah, a wall of thanks. Please encourage your child to add something they are grateful for on this page. We will also share the link during our journaling time on Sunday.
We are coming up to the holiday of Shavuot, a time when we celebrate the giving of the Torah and the first harvest by eating dairy products. All of the classes will be learning about Shavuot this week! Jennifer Clair will lead a cooking workshop for Jonathan’s class on Thursday the 28th--please check Remind or be in touch with me if you need the recipe!
Story time for younger students is by appointment. Let me know if you would like a story time, or reach out directly to Wendy or Carole. I know that they enjoy spending time with your children, and I think Olivia enjoyed getting to practice making blintzes with Wendy while they read Sammy Spider’s First Shavuot!
We have been working on planning a closing celebration for Masa in June, and I’ll have details about that soon. I have also been dealing with the more challenging task of predicting what we will be able to do in Masa next year. I will begin calling families next week, and please reach out to me if you have any thoughts on what is working for you, or what you hope we’ll be able to do!
