Chag Purim Sameach!

I’m writing this post on Purim, just a few days after the Purim Carnival FUN-raiser. I am glad that so many families were able to join us to celebrate and to raise money for BHA educational programs!

Some of our Friday students prepared a wonderful Purim spiel to share before the Carnival. Thanks for helping us to fulfill the mitzvah of hearing the story! I’m particularly grateful to community member Paul Suchow for sharing the Purim song he wrote, and proud of our students for learning to sing a song in four parts. I hope you all enjoyed listening to that as much as the students enjoyed learning to sing it!

Then came the Carnival. I saw many smiling faces, so I know that people were fulfilling the Purim mitzvah of having a celebration. Thank you to Laura Liebeck, Laurel Becker, Prue Posner, Christine Pincus, and all of the other folks who were preparing delicious food in the kitchen. Thanks to all of the Masa parents and to the B-Mitzvah class, who took the time to make and run booths. Many thanks to Michele Ullian for getting awesome prizes for the games, and to Peter and Caleb Ullian for helping Michele to run the prize table. Thanks to Laurel Becker, Christine Pincus, and Sandra Mort for getting some great raffle prizes. Thank you also to all of the folks who took a bit of time after the Carnival to help us rearrange the social hall and Preschool spaces so that we would be ready for Monday. I know that it made it far easier on the Preschool teachers to come in with the furniture already arranged!

We had fun at the Carnival, and we also raised more than $1000 for BHA Educational programs. Thank you to everyone for making it such a success!

You can help our community to fulfill the other two mitzvot of Purim: If you have not already done so, please stop by BHA to pick up your mishloach manot box (with lots of delicious treats inside). And please make sure to bring some non-perishable food to send to the food pantry. It is a particular mitzvah at Purim, but it is always a good idea.
