We are in the month of Elul, approaching Rosh Hashona and Yom Kippor. In synagogue and in our lives, we will have a chance to remember and renew with words and with song.
I want to share with you a beautiful dance meditation on the holidays and particularly the call to zikaron, to remember. It's a video for Basya Schechter's song Zikaron, which some of us were lucky enough to hear her play at The Towne Crier Cafe last year. The video is available here, and Saul Sudin, the director of the video writes, "Maybe it will please your eyes. Maybe it will hit you inside like a shofar blast. Maybe it will make you get up and dance. Hopefully it will give you a thrill and make the upcoming Rosh Hashona more meaningful as you approach it." If you'd like, you can see more of his thoughts here.
I hope that with words and music and dance, we can all find the path we need to renew ourselves and our relationships in the coming year.
