ONLINE Chanting for Shavuot and Havdalah with Community
Saturday, May 30, 2020 • 7 Sivan 5780
7:00 PM - 8:00 PMhttp://bit.ly/BHA-PUBLIC-ZOOMWe say good bye to the Sabbath in a bittersweet ceremony that includes wine, fragrance, and candlelight. It is said that on Shabbat, we are given an extra soul. At Havdalah we relinquish that extra soul, but hope that the sweetness and holiness of the day will remain with us during the week. We sing, holding on to the beauty and tranquility of Shabbat, not wanting to let it go.
On Saturday evening we will come together for a half an hour of chanting, followed by the havdalah ceremony. Cantor Ellen will light the havdalah candle and sing. If you have a havdalah candle, spice box, and wine or grape juice, please have it available during the ceremony. If not, you will be able to see Ellen's havdalah candle. If you want to make a spice box, you can do so by putting any of these ingredients together; cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice so that you can smell the sweetness.
If you have any questions you can email Ellen at:
