ZAYIN ADAR

Thanks to all who made the first annual Zayin Adar celebration a success!  Commemorating both the birth and death of Moses, Zayin Adar (the 7th day of the month of Adar) is also the day when a Jewish community traditionally celebrates its Chevrah Kadishah.  Not sure what a Chevrah Kadishah is, or didn't know that BHA had one?  Well, we do(!), and you can find out more information here.  But, in brief, a Chevrah Kadishah (literally "Holy Society") is a group of people who care for a deceased member of the community from death to burial, primarily by washing the body (the ritual of taharah), and keeping constant guard (the practice of shmirah).  If you would like to know more about the Chevrah, or would like to join, feel free to contact Matt Harle.

A big thank you to BHA Board Member, Jen Rutner, in particular, for making the celebration possible.  And thanks, as always, to Laura Liebeck and the Hospitality Committee for all their hard work.

God bless the Chevrah and all those who sail with it!
