Kirtan!
Kirtan Rabbi: Mystical Hebrew Chant (Rabbi Andrew Hahn Ph.D.) from Kirtan Rabbi on Vimeo.
Hebrew Kirtan is participatory chanting where short, sacred phrases from the Jewish tradition are treated as powerful, universal meditations It is at once contemplative, ecstatic, and mind expanding fun! Just as you don't have to speak Hindi or be Hindu to take part in yoga, you donthave to speak Hebrew or be Jewish to take part in Hebrew Kirtan..
Join nationally known chant leader and composer Rabbi Andrew Hahn (the Kirtan Rabbi) for a special sunset concert at 5:00 PM on Saturday, October 20. The Kirtan Rabbi will be joined by Shoshana Jedwab, Charlie Braun, Taylor Bergren-Chrisman, and friends for an evening of sacred call-and-response singing and devotional learning in an open air-ampitheater in the Hudson Highlands, weather permitting.
Andrew has pioneered Kirtan in the Jewish world, offering communal call-and-response chant concerts and meditation seminars around the world. He has been teaching tai chi and related arts for more than thirty-five years. In his workshops, he seamlessly combines chant, movement, meditation and text study into a positive, holistic experience. He is resident faculty at Clal: The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership in New York. Reb Drew has three musical CDs, and a single, Shiviti.
The concert will be preceeded by a separate spiritually focused hike with Rabbi Brent Spodek. If you would like combination tickets to both events, inlcuding private pre-concert hors d'oeuvres and transportation to and from the trailhead and the Metro North Train Station, please click here.
