History

In 1921, a group of Jewish families incorporated "Beacon Hebrew Alliance" as a religious corporation, for the purpose of holding traditional Jewish worship services and to strengthen their bond of fellowship. Services were conducted regularly in various temporary quarters, including the old Mechanics Savings Bank building and in the Odd Fellows Hall over Schuman's Army and Navy Store.
 
The present Synagogue and Center building of Beacon Hebrew Alliance was built by the efforts of thirty Jewish families, and in 1929, it was formally dedicated during a week of religious convocations and social events.

Invitation to Membership

Our Membership consists of approximately 100 families who live in various parts of the Mid-Hudson Valley. While there are other Conservative Synagogues in the area, Beacon Hebrew Alliance offers a more intimate setting in our beautiful 80+ year old building with its original stained glass windows.  Our members tend to feel that BHA is the home of our extended family.

Clergy

Rabbi Brent Spodek who leads our services and offers support to our Members has been a valued member or our congregation and became our Rabbi in July, 2011.
Cantor Ellen Gersh, who alternates Shabbat service leadership with Rabbi Brent and is also our education director, has been a lifelong BHA member.
